Design and Construction continues to work towards critical components of OSU’s long-range comprehensive accessibility improvement planning through creation of safer, more efficient, and accessible paths of travel between buildings; providing critically required accessible classroom facilities to accommodate community members making positive impacts for OSU students, faculty, staff, and visitors.  ADA accessibility improvement projects across campus and in leased areas include such things as upgrades to bathrooms, building entry ramps and sidewalk improvements.

Accessibility Assessments

SZS Consulting will be performing accessibility assessments of Reser Stadium, Gill Coliseum, Snall Hall, Gleeson Hall, Pharmacy Building and the Child Care Center.


Benton Hall Slope Study

Nevue/Ngan Associates will be conducting a study/circulation plan.  The study will look at pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle circulation, parking, lighting, safety, and other issues in this area. The consultants will be developing a schematic master plan for future improvements in this area.


Burt Hall Door Improvements

For improved accessibility, an automatic door operator will be installed on the north door of Burt Hall.


Rogers, Dearborn and Covell Halls Door Hardware Improvements

To improve wheelchair accessibility, we will be replacing knob door hardware with lever hardware on several doors in Rogers and Dearborn Halls.  We will also be installing an automatic door operator on the door to the College of Engineering office in Covell.


Heckart Lodge Entrance Improvements

The landing and the walkway at the entrance to Heckart Lodge will be replaced to correct cross slope deficiencies and to provide compliant access to the facility.

Status: The project is expected to be completed by winter 2016.


Finley Hall Walkway Improvements

A walkway that goes from the Parking Garage to Finley Hall will be improved to correct cross slope deficiencies and provide improved access to the walk from the accessible parking spaces,

Status:  The project is expected to be completed by winter 2015.


Dearborn Hall Walkway Improvements

The walk that approaches Dearborn from the west will be improved to eliminate a lip at the edge of the breezeway.

Status:  The project is expected to be done fall 2015.


Truax Indoor Practice Facility /Prothro Field Walkway Improvements

The sidewalk along these facilities will be improved to correct cross slope deficiencies and provide improved access to the sidewalk from the accessible parking spaces,

Status:  The project is expected to be completed by summer 2016.


Valley Library Wudu

A pre-fabricated wudu unit was installed in an existing restroom at the Valley Library.  It was recessed into the concrete slab to make it accessible.  (Wudu is an Islamic procedure for washing body parts in preparation for prayer.)

Status:  The project was completed April, 2015


Cordley Hall Accessible Parking Improvements Project

A portion of the parking lot was improved to provide four fully accessible parking spaces, an accessible route to Campus Way, and better configured bicycle parking.

Status:  The project was completed March 2015.


Withycombe Hall Walkway Improvements

Improved pedestrian access across the driveway near Withycombe Hall.

Status:  The project was completed March, 2015
